HANDBOOK on organising creative large-scale youth sport work events

HANDBOOK on organising creative large-scale youth sport work events

Description

This handbook is envisioned as a multiplication tool, for using in youth sport work with youngsters in our communities, by current youth (sport) workers and future ones, of ours and of any other interested youth (work) organisations.

It consists of most up to date information accessible in the topics covered and adaptation of methods and methodologies to sport work and escape room methodology. The handbook combines existing theories and definitions and gives practical advices on defining, planning, preparing, implementing and evaluating large-scale youth sport work events, with special focus given on creativity in envisioning new large-scale YSW events based on methodology of escape rooms which is presented separately as a section for better and detailed understanding.

The Handbook on organising large-scale youth sport work events comprises of five chapters followed by a sixth section of appendices with practical forms considered useful when organising large-scale youth sport work events.

The “Creativity in youth sport work for reconciliation and acceptance of diversity” project harnessed the power of sport as a unifying tool to promote reconciliation, inclusion, and intercultural acceptance among youth in post-conflict regions. Recognizing that teamwork in sports transcends differences in race, religion, and background, the project sought to channel this potential into effective youth work for peacebuilding. Through a combination of training courses, study visits, and local dissemination actions, the project aimed to empower youth workers with tools and methods to use sports as a medium for dialogue, understanding, and community-building.

What's About

Our project’s core mission revolves around unleashing the transformative potential of volunteering as a catalyst for positive change within our communities. We have achieved this by equipping our members and stakeholders with the essential knowledge and competencies required to engage with volunteers effectively.

Our ultimate goal has been to nurture a more dynamic, interconnected, and influential volunteer community.

Volunteering, we firmly believe, represents an intrinsic strength that not only benefits individuals, groups, and organizations but also has a profound impact on the overall well-being of our local communities.

Beyond serving as a critical resource for NGOs, volunteering carries far-reaching advantages for the volunteers themselves. It plays a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community, countering loneliness, and encouraging social interactions.

Volunteering also serves as a catalyst for the formation of enduring bonds and friendships, enhances self-esteem, enriches educational experiences, and expands future job prospects.

Acknowledging the diverse and substantial benefits of volunteering, it has become imperative for our NGOs to prepare and deliver high-quality, purposeful volunteering experiences.

In response to this critical need, we have meticulously crafted a Training Course. This course’s primary aim is to empower our members, employees, youth workers, and organisational decision-makers with a profound understanding of the fundamental values and principles that underlie volunteering.

– To raise awareness of the importance of volunteering for individuals and development quality volunteer management

– To exchange what are volunteering background and situation in each participating country

– To introduce participants with the concept of volunteer’s rights and responsibilities

– To provide information about and practice developing all elements of volunteer management puzzle

– basic steps to do before engaging volunteers in the organisation / project

– To emphasis importance of providing individual mentoring, coaching and suport to volunteers and empower participants for these roles

– To share challenges in their work and possible solutions for these situations, and to share examples of good practice

– To set goals and commitment for developing the volunteer management puzzle when they get home.

Project RESULT

Our project has successfully trained participants to become proficient youth volunteer managers, reinforcing their commitment to empower volunteers, particularly the youth they work with. This achievement has had a profound impact, not only on the personal and professional development of our volunteers but also on our target groups. Moreover, this comprehensive training course has significantly contributed to enhancing the overall capabilities and quality of partner organizations in the field of youth.

The realized outcomes include equipping youth workers with both practical and theoretical tools and skills to effectively engage volunteers in their activities. This encompasses all aspects of management, including team dynamics, staff and volunteer coordination, needs and capacity assessment, program development, evaluation, and follow-up processes. Additionally, youth workers have emerged from the project with the ability to conceptualize and initiate new projects aimed at involving volunteers and young people in their activities.

The impact of our project extends to reaching and engaging new youth, thereby fostering active European citizenship by promoting and supporting volunteerism within our communities. Furthermore, as a direct result of elevating the quality of volunteering, our projects and programs involving volunteers have become more effective.

Both our staff and volunteers, along with our target groups and local communities, benefit from the invaluable contributions of motivated and highly appreciated volunteers and their meaningful work. These achievements signify a significant step towards creating a more vibrant and engaged community, ultimately enriching the lives of all those involved.
